Hey friends! 👋 It’s that time of year again — Medicare Annual Enrollment is here! 🍂
We know it’s not the most thrilling topic (we’d all rather be talking about fall leaves, car shows, or pumpkin spice lattes, right?), but this time of year is really important if you’re on Medicare. It’s your once-a-year chance to make sure your plan still fits your health needs and your budget.
Here are a few of the most common questions we get this time of year — answered in plain English.
1. When is the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period?
Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7. This is your window to make changes to your coverage for next year. Any changes you make will go into effect on January 1.
2. What can I actually change during this time?
A lot! During AEP, you can:
-
Switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage (Part C) plan — or vice versa
-
Change from one Medicare Advantage plan to another
-
Add, drop, or switch your Prescription Drug Plan (Part D)
Basically, this is your chance to make sure your plan still fits your needs.
3. Do I really need to review my plan every year?
We say yes — definitely! Even if you love your plan, things can change: premiums, copays, drug coverage, or provider networks. Taking a few minutes to review your plan now could save you money and frustration later.
And here’s the best part — we can review your plan even if it’s not with us. You don’t have to be a current customer for us to help you take a look and make sure you’re getting the best fit.
4. When do the new plan changes take effect?
Any changes you make during the Annual Enrollment Period will start on January 1 of the new year. So if you make changes this fall, you’ll start fresh with your updated coverage at the beginning of 2026.
5. What if I don’t do anything?
If your current plan is still offered next year and you’re happy with it, it’ll automatically renew. But since plans can change a bit each year, it’s still a good idea to double-check that your coverage and costs are still a good fit.
Bottom Line
The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is your chance to make sure your coverage matches you — your health, your budget, and your peace of mind.
And remember, you don’t have to figure it out alone. We’re happy to sit down with you, review your current plan as well as new options, and help you feel confident heading into the new year that you’ll be covered!
